My kids like playing video games on the big TV in our living room. I would tell you that it drives me crazy with the volume turned up way too loud and the way it transforms our upstairs into a cacophony of shouts and ear-splitting sound effects.
But honestly I love it.
It gives me a chance to be inside their teenage world and to sit on the periphery of what interests them. So I’ll often find myself perched on the arm of the couch just watching, asking a lot of questions and somehow finding myself getting sucked into the storyline.
It’s not a waste of time; it’s an opportunity to connect with my almost-grown-up kids and to feel like we are playing the game together.
