We look in all sorts of directions for the secret to finding motivation. Maybe if we woke up earlier, if we were more consistent, if we could find the perfect time, desk, gadget, then the motivation would follow.
Yet maybe we’ve been thinking about it all wrong. When we talk about motivation through the lens of getting more done, we often couple it with discipline—that is, an unrelenting strictness, precise execution, and perfect adherence to the rules we set ourselves.
