It’s early morning, the sun is coming over the horizon, and the soft rays are beginning to push back the darkness. I’m in Virginia Beach. As I walk along the boardwalk, fighter jets dash through the sky, and I can’t help but feel their presence and power. Combat ships float on the ocean, and Navy Seals train just a few miles to the south. Along the boardwalk, statues to honor the fallen and those who have fought are everywhere.
I stop and pause, and I’m reminded of the importance of service. It does not matter if you’re in special operations, a teacher at a local school, or someone who chooses to donate their money to a worthy cause—service matters.
