Understanding Hoarding

Although I am a healthy adult who currently wears a size 36 pant, I still have a pair of size 28 jeans in my closet just in case I start working out again. I’m not a hoarder, though, so it’s okay. Yes, I, too, have a few things in my house that I don’t use. But it’s okay because I’m not a hoarder, not like those people who keep hundreds of Beanie Babies or whatever. Right?

Hoarding is a challenging disorder that holds people back from living their best lives. But because of a certain television show, hoarding has become a word that is overused to describe people who simply have too much stuff. There is a big difference.
